DOERNBECHER FREESTYLE

Except for a small scar on his scalp, you’d never know that approximately 14 months ago, Ethan Frank was battling brain cancer. He underwent treatment at OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, where neurosurgeons used sophisticated imaging technology to remove his tumor. “I was scared,” Ethan admitted. “I’d never had anything like that happen to me.” Despite his fears, this brave, good-natured kid says he never gave up hope. “The best thing you can do is have hope, because you really can’t control things.” Now 13, Ethan’s back to playing his trumpet and successfully auditioned for his school’s jazz band. Though he can’t play football, he loves watching games – especially the Oregon Ducks. He looks forward to Sept. 9, when he’ll attend his very first stadium football game. That’s exciting for any kid, but even more so when the players take the field in a uniform, cleats, sneakers and apparel that you helped design.

HERITAGE

Remember the revolution. 1987 saw the birth of the Air Max lineage, showcasing visible Air for the first time. What began as an experiment in cushioning soon evolved into an icon on the track – and the streets. Over the years, it’s been reimagined and retooled, but the heritage always remains.
