Streetball is about self-expression
Opium x Quai 54 Event
To celebrate the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Quai 54, Opium Paris partnered with Jordan Brand to honor streetball culture. The well-known boutique
store gave a platform to three young Parisian artists inspired by basketball culture, @uncoeurlilas, @__.fatfat, @alexandreelenga.
NBA superstar Jayson Tatum and award-winning singer and actress Teyana Taylor were special guests and were shown the work of the upcoming artists. Jayson and Teyana later shared their vision of the self-expression in sport, art, music and fashion with an engaged audience during a Q+A session.
The evening started with locals streaming in visiting the exhibition gallery, sampling bites and drinks. DJs kept the vibes coming through playing the very best
in French drill (Leto performed live on stage), US rap and the best African artists from the genres of Amapiano and Afrobeats.
The following day, the biggest streetball tournament in the world took place at Roland Garros in the 16th arrondissement of Paris. Opium invited young Parisian
ballers to discover, enjoy and celebrate the 20th edition of the legendary event. The youngsters had the chance to witness an amazing dunk contest judged by
Jordan athletes such as Gabby Williams, Luka Doncic, Jayson Tatum & Zion Williamson, as well as numerous live performances from the likes of Tayc & Omah Lay. Always focused on working with and for their community, Opium gathered passionate people from Paris and beyond, all united around one shared love,
streetball culture.
