I've always thought of myself as a community builder, and then more recently kind of immersing myself in the sneaker culture that just helped to build and build and build and empowered me to be more of a community builder.

So Our Soles is a platform that I created to try to highlight more masculine presenting tomboy women in the sneaker community. 

My name is Mahogany. Everybody calls me Mo. I'm from Baytown, Texas. It's a small town on the east side of Houston. 

I started playing basketball at a really young age. That's my first introduction to sneakers. It's such a team sport that you could really see people's individuality.

When you see yourself reflected, it helps you to be like, you know what? I'm okay with myself. I'm proud of myself, proud of who I am. I went on a rant on Instagram one day. The masculine presenting folks still need representation, and so I think starting 

Our Soles and kind of creating that community helped. I wanted to see people who looked like me, people who kind of felt like I feel, and not only just masculine presenting people, tomboys...

...queer folks, black folks. I wanted to see that. I wanted to feel that. You seeing a need for representation of masculine presenting women and all that that entails. 

She's a great connector. She makes it comfortable for other people to be themselves as well. That's the goal. I am fly because of Mo, when you think Houston...

...or Texas, you don't think really streetwear, but it's like we put our own spin on it. It's a feeling you can't...

...really describe, but it's like warmth of just having like-minded people around you, having community around you and just celebrating each other.
