Nike Pegasus Trail 5 GORE-TEX

The waterproof GORE-TEX upper is an absolute game changer for the wet weather! I usually struggle to keep my running shoes clean during the wet months, but the ankle cuff provides a sock-like feel while keeping dirt or water out from the inside to keep you dry during those runs. Plus, you only need to rinse with water with these, so they are extremely convenient for easy and effortless cleaning. While these do have ReactX, I did find them to have a more firm feel compared to my normal running pair, the Pegasus 41, but after a few runs in these I appreciated the traction for stability in the Peg Trail 5’s which help me feel supported especially on slippery terrain and unstable ground. These do fit true to size so I recommend sticking with your normal running shoe size for the best fit.

I have needed a waterproof shoe for a long time and I finally got the chance to try these out. I have the regular Pegasus 41 so these seemed like an easy transition. These do feel different than a regular Pegasus and have a much tighter fit around the top of the tongue. The size for me, length and width wise, was true to size but it has this tightness and pressure on the top that is pretty noticeable. I was able to relieve some of that tightness by keeping the laces loose and not fully tying them up. They are still comfortable though with the ReactX foam and I love being able to go out in the rain for a quick run or walk knowing my socks won’t get wet! It’s a solid pair to have so I can still enjoy my time outside on a muddy hike or a normal day out in the rain.

The quality of my shoes is so disappointing. I’ve owned the same pair in a couple of different colors and have been wearing them for years. So when I got these in black, I expected the same quality that I’d grown to love. That is sadly not the case. They look and feel like a cheap knockoff of the Nike Pegasus Trail I own. I even did comparisons of the ones I own now. The sock is warped and loose instead of fitted to keep pebbles out. The shoe has no stability and feels like a foam replica of the versions I own.
