Nice looking pants for the long waisted

I bought these pants to wear for golf in the winter months. They are thick enough to be warm without being restricting and have large deep pockets, which are great. I'm 5'7" and the length is more than adequate. However, they are designed for a long waisted figure and I'm short waisted. When I situate them at my lower waistline, the crotch sits about 3 inches below where it should. If I pull them up to where the crotch should sit, the waistband is up to my braline. I did like them enough to take them in for alterations, but as they are not cheap to begin with, it only adds to the cost. They seem to be well made in general, so hopefully with the alterations I will get several years of use from them. Otherwise they fit true to size.
