The Nike Cortez is a bit of a staple for Nike Casual wear. A blast for the past if you will. Starting with the fit, it does run a little snug and short so fellow wide footers beware. But, even then the break in process was smooth and short. Design is virtually unchanged from any other Cortez but for me, that is a good thing. The roundness of the toe box does make it look odd from certain angles. The fabric was a mix of synthetics but they were soft which aided in the break in process luckily. Nothing to write home about in terms of premium feel but they do look very nice, specially with the blue steel shade they came with. Pros: Design - Nostalgic and ooze personality. Cons: Fit - Not the most wide foot friendly. Can make the shoe look a little unsorted once the materials soften.

I’ll be honest: I’ve never worn the Nike Cortez before. I’m a Dunk Low girly through and through. But hearing the shoe was redesigned to have a wider toebox got me thinking…could I love another style as much as my Dunks? Short answer: YES. Right out of the box, these shoes are the most comfortable pair I’ve ever put on my feet. Literally ZERO break-in time. After initially wearing them around my apartment for max 10 minutes, I wore them to go shopping at a local farmers market with friends. I had about a 5 minute walk from where I parked, and then wandered around for at least 2 hours before returning to my car and home. It felt like I had clouds on my feet! They are so light, and the fabric upper means they easily molded to my feet immediately without multiple wearings like leather. My feet are wider than the sole but it didn’t matter, I still felt comfortable and supported as I walked, shopped, and ate. Pulling them out of the box, they gave me the impression of bowling shoes, but not when I put them on. They looked great with flared jeans and can easily be styled with street wear. The sole being almost platform-y gave my jeans some air from being dragged around too, which as a short gal, I appreciated! Excited to see these shoes come out in more color ways! I exclusively wear gold jewelry so the silver swoosh made me a bit nervous, but we love a mixed metal moment, and the sky blue fabric upper looks great with any wash of jean. Highly recommend if you need a comfortable, every day shoe that can be dressed up or down and in multiple different styles!

The shoes are cute! Colors are great! Love the style/design. The only reason for the three stars is for the fit. These shoes are true to size, so if you have narrow feet these would fit great. I have wide feet so I tend to usually size up half a size. I got these in my normal size to try and instantly felt how snug it was on my feet. So I’d probably would wear these on days I don’t have to walk around much, but still super cute and stylish.
