Bra By Trina: Sports Bras for Big Busts

Hey readers,

Bosoms, breasts, boobies, tits, ta- tas or ‘the girls’, we all have a preferred name for our boobs.

Round, saggy, narrow, full, pointy or asymmetrical. You get the point–your breasts are unique and are perfectly fine just the way that they are.

I really wished this was affirmed to me–and I would say ‘when I was younger’– but the reality is, even as I embarked on adulthood I longed to have perfect perky boobs and couldn’t help but feel as though my larger boobs were a burden.

I began developing breasts at age 9 and by the time I was 15 I was a DD cup. I went to extreme lengths to get my desired support when exercising–wearing a bra underneath my sports bra to minimise The Bounce. Surely I couldn’t be the only one who did this? It seemed to do the job for a short while, but as I continued to develop, my goodness was it painful. Rashes underneath my boobs, red marks and grooves all across my shoulders- I knew this was not the way to go! So, what did I do next...? Well, I should have invested in a good sports bra, but you guessed it–I stopped partaking in sports all together.

Although having bigger breasts may be seen as more desirable to some, the reality is women and girls are less likely to participate in activity due to embarrassment and/or discomfort. Like me, if you too are part of this percentage, don’t fret, that’s where I come in, as I introduce Bra By Trina: The Support Your Girls issue.

So, let’s talk about it, because I know the struggle can be real, so let’s keep it real.

Throughout my issue, we’ll be discussing what life is really like with bigger boobs. I’ll be sharing some gems on how to get the best support from your sports bras and demonstrating how this can give you the confidence to go out there, take up space and even go as far as fostering a sisterhood–because empowered women, empower women.

There are so many variations in size and shape that will set your boobs apart from the next person’s, so it’s important to find what works for you. Remember: Your body, your rules. I’m going to be showing the different support levels available to you, how you can style up your sports bras and also answering those awkward questions you may have been too afraid to ask.

I’ve been meaning to get all this off my chest (pun intended).

This ‘Support Your Girls’ issue is especially dedicated to the Plus Size Women who have ever felt underrepresented–I hope you feel seen.

Yours Truly,

Trina
