Fit for the world's fastest, the Maxfly 2 is back in the starting blocks. Designed for the 100 metres to 400 metres (hurdle events too), it combines an ultra-aggressive feel with the responsiveness of an Air Zoom unit to propel the speediest sprinters on the planet. We updated the base and upper from the previous iteration to help optimise the Air Zoom unit's speed as you hightail it to the tape. Behind the design

This special design comes straight from our archives. It's inspired by a legendary Nike employee who doubled as a self-taught, globe-trotting athletics photographer. The colours and graphic on the sockliners nod to the various press passes he garnered over the years.

Built for Speed

Lighter and more responsive than the previous version, the carbon fibre Flyplate's shape and stiffness give you a propulsive feel. It helps keep you on your toes and minimise deceleration.

Zoom, zoom

The forefoot Air Zoom unit has two chambers to give you propulsion and stability from take-off to the tape.

Stability for straights

We removed the middle spike from the original Maxfly and elevated the platform on the big-toe side. This helps the spikes feel more stable on straights and around the turn.

Secure fit

Nike Flyweave construction on the upper provides a secure and contouring fit for various foot shapes.

These spikes are in my top 3 of all time as you can generate so much power so quickly and it feels as though you are being carried along the track and it’s actually hard to slow down so I highly recommend them for anyone looking to improve their speed in events up to the 400m. The only things to note in my 4 months of training and competing with them is that for athletes who run on their toes instead of ball of their foot, should avoid these at it is hard to maintain control with the air bubble and you’d feel unstable in anything with a curve but for straight distances you can run on you’re toes for about halfway until you’re forced onto the ball of your foot and for hurdlers be careful to get the right size as you can feel discomfort and shin splints if the shoe isn’t your size. Also I’d recommend getting .5 down from your current size because these have a very wide fit . Although they’re reactive with the track and are great for athletes who have a good speed maintenance and a high max speed, these spikes aren’t very good in the blocks as you don’t feel stable or at all connected with the blocks and instead you feel as if you’re pushing into the air bubble rather than the blocks but once you get going the acceleration is brilliant so it makes up for it. Finally the major downside is that these will need to be replaced if they’re your training and competition spikes as I’ve trained and competed with them for 4 months and the bubble popped recently so I’d recommend you don’t use these for training and mainly for competitions. I’ve since switched to the Adizero prime sp3s because they’re basically the same spikes but the adizero gives me more slingshot on the bend and is more aggressive and in my opinion gives more bounce however the max fly’s are brilliant and I do recommend them to whoever is thinking about getting them.
