Founded in 2003, the Quai 54 has grown into one of the largest, most respected streetball tournaments in the world. Now, with inspiration from Paris fashion and street culture, the Quai 54 puts its stamp on the Air Jordan III with an all-new, black, buttery-leather upper with electric green, blue and pink infused to represent the vibrant energy of the game and the city.
We caught up with Hammadoun Sidibé and Thibaut de Longeville, the co-founders of the tournament, about their collaboration with Jordan Brand.
"The III is one of our favourite Jordans, both for Hammadoun and myself—actually, it's my personal favourite! I remember distinctly seeing the original shoe, the original '88 Dunk Contest and all of that. If I had been told, when I was 14 years old in 1988, that we would one day see Jordans with a logo I designed stamped on them, and that that logo would be the one of my own basketball tournament, I wouldn't have believed it".
"Every year, we try to work with themes that say something new. Last year, we wanted to make a strong statement about Paris and France, so we went with the red, black and blue colourway. This year, we wanted to do something really different. We wanted to do something that was bright, flashy and kind of loud, because we know how our players and our whole crowd are super fashion-forward".
