Evolution of Icons
On 26 March 1987, Nike debuted its first sneaker showcasing Air technology through a visible window: the Air Max 1. Exactly 34 years later, we're commemorating that innovative breakthrough with Air Max Day—and what better way to celebrate than with a reboot of the iconic design? The Air Max 1 'Evolution of Icons' fuses features from a host of historic OGs with the storied silhouette.
The eclectic colourway uses mismatched colour-blocking and other inconspicuous elements to commemorate timeless styles, including the Air Max 1 'University Red', Air Max 95 'Neon', Air Max 96 'Scream Green' and Air Max 97 'Metallic Silver'. A graphic on the heel tab pays homage to Air Max Day, while visuals on the insole illustrate the full list of inspirational predecessors.

Heritage
Remember the revolution. The year 1987 saw the birth of the Air Max lineage, showcasing visible Air for the first time. What began as an experiment in cushioning soon evolved into an icon on the track—and the streets. Over the years, it's been re-imagined and re-tooled, but the heritage always remains.
