In 1977, Nike started what would become one of the most prominent running clubs in the country—Athletics West. The LD-1000 was released the same year, then recalled shortly after due to safety concerns with its dramatically flared heel. Phil Knight expected backlash for the recall, but he instead received gratitude from customers.
Well, the wait is over. The iconic flared heel is making a comeback. This heritage edition of the LD-1000 features special insole graphics that pay tribute to the premiere track club. Meanwhile, suede and airy textiles merge with a Waffle outsole to create the old-school look you love.
