Air Foamposite One

Nike’s Foamposite technology changed on-court footwear forever. Recognized for its near unbreakable construction that molded to your foot to create a unique fit, Foamposite technology first made its debut in 1997 with the Air Foamposite One gracing the college championship hardwood.

Energized in a blue hue known as Dark Neon Royal, the Air Foamposite One changed basketball footwear as it was known at the time, and just as quickly, transcended its original purpose to become an icon across the globe for its unique look.

When talking Air Foamposite though, you can’t forget Anfernee “Penny” Hardaway. The basketball icon laced up the design during his early days in multiple colorways, most notably in its debut blue hue, complete with his signature 1Cent logo adorning the heel.

Since then, the Air Foamposite One lineage has grown through new iterations of the original silhouette featuring unique tones, as well as graphic-covered designs that helped to tell stories of both athletes and partners across the community. Alongside the Foam One was the Air Foamposite Pro, featuring a lateral side Swoosh to further dimensionalize the personality of the Eric Avar-designed Nike Basketball staple.

For this iteration of Artifacts by SNKRS, we’ll look back at a select variety of both original and retro designs in the Air Foamposite One lineage. As Artifacts continues to take form, we’ll story tell more silhouettes and designs in each footwear franchise’s lineage.
