Cortez '72

In 1972, Nike released the Cortez, an innovative Bill Bowerman design originally built to help runners go faster for longer. It did just that and quickly a legend was born. The Nike Cortez '72 honors the original iconic design, Blue Ribbon Sports history and the early innovators at Nike who poured their passion into the creation of something that would endure in form and function for generations. On the heel, it says “1 of 3107” to commemorate our first address of 3107 Pico Blvd.
