NIKE SB TRUE TO FORM

BEHIND THE DESIGN

The Nike SB “True To Form” collection — comprised of the Janoski, Dunk Low, and Blazer Low — pairs premium nubuck uppers with neutral colorways for Spring 2018.

Developed from athlete insights, including those of Ishod Wair, Donovon Piscopo, and Alex Olson, the shoes were designed using a “deconstructed” approach that champions simplicity and prioritizes boardfeel.

“Sleek, slim shoes look better and feel more functional,” said Ishod, whose feedback influenced articulation of each silhouette’s classic lines. “The upper should act as a thin layer that protects your foot and gives it that barefoot feeling,” said Alex, who inspired tweaks to the shoe’s flexibility and fit. “These shoes work right out of the box and have instant boardfeel,” said Donny, who affirmed the overall, restrained design approach.

The first “True To Form” drop comes in Light Bone, while the second comes in Black. Finishing the collection is Nyjah Huston’s first Nike signature model, the Nyjah 1 — an Air Presto-inspired shoe with light, Nike Free tooling, a snug, neoprene bootie, and durable rubber on the sole and upper.

Embodying the same “deconstructed” approach, the Nyjah 1 also fulfills Huston’s requirements for boardfeel, flick, and flexibility.
