When the Cortez made its debut 45 years ago, it emerged in a classic navy blue colorway with a white swoosh. Since then, it has been seen in a multitude of colorways and patterns, each bringing a new look to the timeless classic. Now, NikeiD has teamed up with Nordstrom VP of Creative Projects, and curator of Nordstrom x Nike Boutiques, Olivia Kim to create a new array of color options fit for modern style.
Growing up, Olivia remembers the Cortez and its iconic elements vividly. “A combo of navy blue nylon with navy blue suede and the white Swoosh.That's the first style and colorway of the Cortez I remember seeing," she recounts.
Now, Olivia pays homage to the Cortez with the help of NIKEiD. “I wanted to re-interpret and re-introduce it, keeping as many of the original elements as possible."
