The year was 1997 and visible Air had just reached the toe for the first time. Sitting atop the largest cushion of Air the world had seen was the sleek silver of a bullet train. The Air Max 97 BW takes the 1997 Air unit and throws it back to Tinker Hatfield’s 1991 Air Max Classic BW, in a mashup for the ages.

Remember the revolution. 1987 saw the birth of the Air Max lineage, showcasing visible Air for the first time. What began as an experiment in cushioning soon evolved into an icon on the track – and the streets. Over the years, it’s been reimagined and retooled, but the heritage always remains.
