As part of the Doernbecher Freestyle Program, which gives young patients the opportunity to work with our design team, Jillian created an AJ6 that's full of fun surprises. The mismatched toe boxes fade with wear to reveal new colors, and interchangeable patches celebrate some of her favorite things—mix 'em up to suit your mood. And an embroidered message on the toes honors the organ donor who gave Jillian a second chance at life. Heart-shaped perforations draw inspiration from Jillian's desire to live life with kindness. Jillian adorned these sneakers with a few of her favorite things: basketballs, a tumbler, a lacrosse stick and a cucumber slice. Each comes as an interchangeable patch, letting you style your shoes your way.
Since 2004, Nike’s Doernbecher Freestyle Program has raised $40 million for OHSU Doernbecher Children's Hospital. This special partnership gives young patients the opportunity to work with Nike designers to create their own Nike and Jordan Brand sneakers. Their one-of-a-kind shoes are sold at retail—with every penny going to the children’s hospital.
