As part of an entrepreneurship minor, four students from the Amsterdam Universitywere selected to embark on a design journey with Nike. 

Aimée Adriaansen, Stephanie Huisman, Dyon Dijkman Dulkes and Emilio Manduapessy joined forces and worked their creativity on an Air Max 90 design. The result is a premium sneaker with an important message.

The Air Max 90 by HvA pays homage to people advocating for cultural and social diversity by using education as the tool to fight ignorance. The neutral colors such as taupe, desert sand and malt are inspired by the signs from the marches, 

whereas the black Swoosh symbolizes the compelling statements written in black marker. The martian red accent on the outsole is a nod to Amsterdam, home to the university where the students connected.

Through the leather and suede materials this Air Max 90 has been given a premium look and feel, reflecting the students’ collective backgrounds in design. 

The pair is signed off with a hangtag carrying the initials HVA, which is the abbreviation for Hogeschool van Amsterdam, the original Dutch name of the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences.
