FAQs

When is the right time to replace football boots?

Nike Kids boots are designed to be sturdy and durable. They should last a season—or longer if they’re looked after. Of course, if your kid outgrows them sooner, they’ll need to be replaced. They might also need replacing if they show wear and tear. Look out for separation of the outer layers, worn-out soles or studs, or holes in the ankle area. Hours played make a huge difference, but to help boots last, have your kids change out of their boots as soon as they leave the playing surface.

Which football boots are best for wide feet?

The Nike Mercurial has a narrower fit than the Phantom or Tiempo, which tend to be wider. However, a lot of players with wider feet still love the feel of Mercurial. It all comes down to a kid’s personal preference and playing style.

How do I know which sole to use for which playing surface?

Different surfaces can affect traction and control, so it's important to find the right sole plate for the type of pitch, or court, you play on. Firm Ground (FG) sole plates are perfect for ground with natural grass, kept short and dry or slightly damp, but not muddy. Indoor Court (IC) sole plates offer the traction you need for indoor court and outdoor street or concrete play. Turf (TF) soles are designed for use on older artificial pitches, which tend to be shorter and firmer than modern 3G and 4G fields, and those found at small-sided indoor facilities.
