Have You Hugged Your Foot Today?

We partnered up with Highsnobiety to explain how the cultural cache and innovation of the Huarache sneaker came full circle to create the Nike Adapt Huarache.
When it was introduced in 1991, the Nike Huarache heralded in a new approach to fit. Crafted with a Neoprene bootie and unique exoskeleton, the Huarache hit shelves alongside advertising materials that asked the question, “Have You Hugged Your Foot Today?” Now that slogan gains an entirely new meaning thanks to Nike’s FitAdapt technology built into the Huarache.

The Adapt Huarache is Nike’s first auto-lacing lifestyle sneaker, building on innovations like the on-court Nike Adapt BB. The adaptable fit offers custom comfort on the go, whether you’re sprinting to catch the train or settling into an empty seat.

Nike FitAdapt illustrates Nike’s latest step in a relentless pursuit of re-thinking what a perfect fit could mean. The Air Presto introduced S, M, and L sizing instead of conventional numbered sizing. The Flyknit Racer introduced a one-piece upper with targeted support. Styles like the Sock Racer, Air Rift, and FlyEase further experimented with anatomy and fit. Now FitAdapt might be the closest Nike has come to realizing its dream of the “perfect fit.”
