The first ever Halloween themed SB Dunk dropped in 2003, kicking off a tradition that’s produced some of the shoe’s most thrilling designs, with dashes of horror and startling colourways. 

Making a stake for the most drop-dead SB Dunks, the first two Halloween themed designs were released together in a pared-down palette of iconic horror colours: blood-red and midnight black.   

Flipping the same blood-tingling colourway, both designs featured a leather and suede upper, together with – unusually for an SB Dunk Low – an all-leather tongue. 

In 2005, SB Dunks went dark: as part of the True Black Series, with an all-black suede upper and two shocking pops of orange on the tongue and heel tabs. 

Back in 2007, artist Todd Bratrud created the unholy grail of Halloween SB Dunks, featuring a striped ‘sweater’ material and a blood spatter effect on pale, skin-coloured leather.  

Originally slated for the 2007 Nike SB ‘Horror Pack’, the razor-sharp design was never released. But the legend lives on…  

2009 saw the release of an eye-popping SB Dunk in classic Halloween colours: an upper in bright green leather and black suede, with a pumpkin orange swoosh and yellow or purple laces. 

Tricked out in vivid, seasonal colours, this 2019 design was packed with surprises, from a jack o’ lantern perforated on the toe box to heel tabs saying “TRICK” and “TREAT”. 

This 2021 design brings the iconic monster to life with a bandage-like, tearaway canvas upper, glow-in-the-dark soles and menacing eyes on the heel tabs. 

The design is full of secrets to unravel, from the hieroglyphics under the tongue, to the scarabs under the sock liners – one of which is squashed.
