Women Soccer Stars Inspire Design of New Nike United Pack
Product News
The launch marks the first time that a collective of soccer players has come together to influence the creation of the Nike United Pack of boots.
In a first-of-its-kind initiative for Nike Football, the brand has brought together six athletes from around the world to inspire the design of a new pack of cleats. The result is the Nike United Pack, which channels the athletes’ insights across three key Nike Football franchises—the Tiempo, Mercurial and Phantom. The shared purple and Volt colorway demonstrates power and ambition in a way that emulates the soccer stars’ competitive spirit. The patterned upper, reminiscent of shattered glass, signals the next generation of soccer stars breaking through.
“Being a part of this boom and just making people respect women’s sports is exciting,” says Nike United collective member Naomi Girma of Chelsea FC. “When we’re done, it’s going to be even better for the next generation.”
In a first for Nike, six soccer stars came together in the collective—Girma, Patricia Guijarro of FC Barcelona, Lauren James of Chelsea FC, Salma Paralluelo of FC Barcelona, Sophia Wilson (formerly Sophia Smith) of Portland Thorns FC and Deyna Castellanos of Portland Thorns FC.
All of the cleats were designed with one goal: to support the next generation of athletes during competition, empowering them to set their dreams high and then rise to achieve them. After all, as Paralluelo says, “Feeling strong in your gear makes a difference when you step onto the field.”
Each shoe features the athletes’ names next to the Nike United logo on the heel, and the custom sock liner in every boot is a nod to all six members of the Nike United collective.
While the Tiempo, Mercurial and Phantom franchises share a common thread, each style is different to support a range of needs on the field.
Nike United Tiempo
The Nike United Tiempo’s low-top cleats are versatile and designed to enhance agility on the pitch. “I feel like anyone can wear a Tiempo,” Girma says. “Especially with the new model, it’s light, and I like how reliable it is.”
Guijarro praises the shoe’s “classic look and feel,” adding that it’s “perfect for players who handle the ball a lot and lead the play.”
Nike United Phantom
The Nike United Phantom was created with scoring in mind. “This boot would benefit any striker because Deyna and I made this together,” Wilson says.
Castellanos calls the shoe “very versatile,” adding, “It’s about precision, and that is something that describes my game a lot.”
Nike United Mercurial
Nike United’s Mercurial was designed to support quick footwork and speed. “The Mercurial is great for anyone who moves fast,” James says.
Paralluelo agrees. “I’d recommend these boots for an electric, fast player—an attacker,” she says.
Nike United collective members are excited about this collaboration, which is available at nike.com and select stores starting February 5, 2025.
