The Air Jordan V El Grito is Jordan Brand’s latest exciting shoe release and its first to pay homage to Mexican culture, representing a shared identity and pride in Latin American communities around the globe.

This collaboration is the latest in a series of partnerships between Jordan Brand and Mexican and Latin American communities, showcasing the brand’s ongoing commitment to Latin American culture and sneaker fans. Examples of such previous Jordan collaborations include the Jordan Chilango apparel collection and bold editions of the Air Jordan 1 in various Nike Día de Muertos collections.

Much thoughtful creativity went into the design of the Air Jordan V El Grito to uniquely showcase and represent Mexican culture in all its various forms — from its colors and textures to its geography and people. In fact, the shoe is chock-full of tiny details that represent Latin culture both on its exterior and the interior.

Beginning with the exterior, the shoe’s white leather upper features embossed details on the tongue, toe and heel. Each detail is inspired by the artisan crafts and textures for which Mexico is known, such as its colorful glazed and decorated pottery called Talavera. El Grito’s red and green lace locks boldly contrast with the white sneaker.

On the inside tongue, you’ll find a green, red and white Jordan Brand label. A geometric design pattern in burgundy lining the shoe adds a pop of color. The shoe’s dubraes — a decorative embellishment added to the front of the laces that’s long been associated with the Nike brand — is engraved with the word "viva" for an added touch.

Rapper, composer and songwriter El Malilla is the star of the Air Jordan V El Grito campaign, which he proudly gets behind. “The Jumpman [logo] is from the hood and today we have one from Mexico, to Mexico," he says. "Proudly Jordan, proudly from the hood, proudly Mexican.”

The Air Jordan V El Grito made its debut as part of the shoe’s limited release in Mexico during the July 2024 Nike & Jordan World of Flight Mexico City grand opening. Encompassing three floors spanning more than 22,000 square feet in the heart of historic downtown Mexico City, the establishment is Nike’s largest retail space in the region and the first Jordan World of Flight experience in Latin America.

Following its September 12, 2024, global release, the Air Jordan V El Grito is now available to sneaker fans worldwide at nike.com and at select retail locations.
